The deep Dickenberger tunnel is a tunnel in the Ibbenbüren coal mine . It is located in the Ibbenbüren district of Püsselbüren on the edge of the Schafberg . It served the Dickenberg mine and later the Westfeld colliery to drain the pit water. Today the pit water of the flooded western field still flows out of the tunnel, as this is the deepest in the western field.

Since the supplies of the higher-lying Dickenberg tunnel were running low, the deep Dickenberg tunnel was created in 1771 to drain water from the Dickenberg mine. At the western foot of the mountain, the tunnel was started between the villages of Püsselbüren and Uffeln . After 615 m through sand and layers of rock of younger age, the sandstone of the coal mountains was hit. The Franz seam was approached first. After the tunnel had been driven a further 398 m into the mountains, the Dickenberg seam was reached. This was located here 59 m below the bottom of the Dickenberger adit, which was now called the Dickenberger Oberstollen.

The residents of the Upper County of Lingen were used for manual and tensioning services when driving the tunnel. They received 6 stüber as payment. The water from this tunnel flowed off irregularly, as far as it did not seep away it flowed into the Ibbenbürener Aa near Gravenhorst . It was later used by the Gravenhorster ironworks to wash the ores and to drive a water wheel. In addition to the Dickenberg mine, the Glücksburg mine was later drained. The Dickenberger tunnel reached its end point at 7.5 km above Ibbenbüren on the Von-der-Heydt shaft . Later the Westfeld colliery was drained with the Dickenberger tunnel. The Wilhelmschacht raised the pit water to the bottom of the tunnel from which it flowed. With the closure of the western field, the western field sank down to the bottom of the Dickenberger tunnel. Today, the water from the western field is discharged through the tunnel.
