Culture

Catholic parish Herz-Jesu Püsselbüren

With the first service in August 1946 in the portal of the Hedwigsheim, the book of the Catholic parish of Püsselbüren was opened. A little later, half of a barrack at Hedwigsheim was set up as a church. The priest in the former chapel community of Esch was the refugee pastor Ernst Nentwig. The wish to build his own church was granted by the then Bishop Michael Keller. Chaplain August Pricking was appointed rector of the Hedwig Chapel and was commissioned to build a new church in Püsselbüren with his own funds and in self-help. In May 1950 the construction of the new church began. On June 13, 1951 the church was consecrated with the name "Püsselbüren-Herz-Jesu". The Herz-Jesu-Kirche, the kindergarten (1959) and the parish home (1963) still form the community center together with the St. Hedwig house. Associations, clubs and various communities led and still lead to an active community life with great participation and commitment of the community members. The active associations and groups of the parish include the Kolping Family Püsselbüren with approx. 370 members, the Püsselbürener Herz-Jesu altar boys with 65 active acolytes including 15 altar boys, the kfd Herz-Jesu, the church choir, which has existed since 1953 Herz-Jesu, the KAB Püsselbüren and many other groups that keep church life alive. A community committee that is public for all community members meets at regular intervals in the parish hall of the community. In this body all topics that are important for the parishioners personally and for the development of the Sacred Heart congregation in general are discussed.

After the farewell to Pastor Pricking in 1952, Pastors Heinrich Voss (21 years old), Pastor Hermann Kippert (20 years old) and Pastor Hermann Rohling (8 years old) were responsible for running the community. Several chaplains were involved in the pastoral care. Redesigns, extensions and renovations of the church interior mean that church services can still be celebrated today in a dignified atmosphere with a contemporary ambience.

After Pastor Hermann Rohling passed in 2000, the congregation did not have its own pastor. The parish administration and pastoral care has been taken over by the pastors of the neighboring communities. Secular priests from Africa and India were and still are missionary active in our congregations. The amalgamation of several smaller parishes to form a larger parish, with a central parish administration, as well as church closings have become increasingly concrete. In 2004, the diocese of Münster planned to merge the parishes of St. Marien (Uffeln), St. Barbara (Dickenberg), St. Michael (Bockraden) and Sacred Heart of Jesus into one parish. Part of the merger was the fact that the Herz-Jesu Church should be closed. With great commitment by many citizens and associations from Püsselburen, the preservation of the church was fought for several years and the church's closure was ultimately averted. In 2011 the Herz-Jesu congregation including the church was integrated into the St. Franziskusgemeinde and Pastor Paul Greiwe was appointed as the parish administrator. Since the farewell to Pastor Greiwe (summer 2016), Pastor Stefan Dördelman from Ss. Mauritius-Maria Magdalena the St. Franziskusgemeinde.

Since September 22, 2019, the cath. Herz-Jesu congregation one of 10 congregations in the Ibbenbüren area, which is one of the largest parishes in the entire diocese of Münster, the Catholic parish of St. Mauritius Ibbenbüren ( "Catholic Church in Ibbenbüren and Brochterbeck") .

The Catholic parish Herz-Jesu, with the associated associations and groups, is a living part of the ecumenical cooperation of Püsselburen.

The Püsselburen club life

The sports clubs Schwarz-Weiß Esch 1930 eV and the dance club Ibbenbüren eV are dedicated to the sports of soccer, dancing, athletics, gymnastics, skating, tennis, gymnastics, volleyball, hiking and walking.

The Kolping Family Püsselbüren unites five family groups with 40 to 80 people each and, in addition to the support associations for the local elementary school and the Sacred Heart Family Center, shapes social commitment in the locality and beyond. The Sacred Heart Family Center has, among other things, a kindergarten with five groups and over 110 childcare places. As a pioneer, it organized a women's fashion flea market in Tecklenburger Land for the first time, with significant support from the non-profit association. The successful concept was subsequently adapted by other (also non-profit) institutions in the area.

For the tenth time, the Kolping Family Püsselbüren organized a Kubbe tournament with 50 teams and a nationwide catchment area in 2014 .

The St. Mauritius Schützenbruderschaft 1926 eV is the local rifle club and with 600 members is the largest club in the Heimatschützenbund Tecklenburger. There are currently 16 groups in active shooting at the shooting range at the “Alten Gasthaus Wulf”. The Schützenbrüder celebrate their Schützenfest on the third weekend in July on the grounds of the “Alten Gasthaus Wulf” (since 2014, previously alternating with the “Kreuzmann” restaurant). The new pair of children's shooters will be determined on Saturday in the Escher Sportpark. On Sunday the new king will be determined at bird shooting and celebrated at the festival ball on Monday. Furthermore, a mass will take place on Monday in the Herz-Jesu Church, followed by a silent march to the memorial to commemorate the two wars that have fallen. Then the Schützenbrothers meet for a morning pint. On the occasion of the 90th anniversary in 2016, an additional bird was shot out for all shooters under 30 for the first time. The winner of this competition will then receive the Paul Eggemeier honorary plaque at the morning pint.

The place is also divided into various carnival clubs, in which primarily neighborhood maintenance is carried out. When members die, the associations collect a small contribution, the so-called “coffin money”, to help the bereaved with the burial costs. The associations also organize a carnival festival and the “Teggeln” annually, which is intended to strengthen the sense of community. The place is divided into the following clubs: Up'n Sande, Kladdendorp, Mauritius-Siedlung, Im Felde, Wiesengrund, Zum Esch and Eierdörperken.

Stephanus Center

In Püsselbüren there was a Protestant parish with the Stephanuszentrum from 1976 to 2015. This was formed from parts of the Dickenberger Lukas community and the Ibbenbüren community. The newly built community center was officially opened on October 9, 1976. After the number of Protestant Christians in Püsselbüren continued to decline over time, the Stephanus Center was de-dedicated on January 11, 2015. The remaining parishioners were divided between the Lukas parish in Dickenberg and the Paulus Center in Langewiese.

Local development

In the west of the town of Püsselbüren, an existing new building area will be completed in 2014. A new building area with 39 building plots will be fully developed in 2014 before a third adjacent area is opened. The aim is to create living space and at the same time further enhance the part characterized by numerous apartment buildings in the western local area. In the north, south and east the place is characterized by settlement structures with numerous one and two family houses.

Most of the retail trade and service providers are concentrated in the east of Püsselburen. A structural expansion to the east and thus a structural connection to the core city is currently not shown in the urban development. The place has a simple sports hall with a direct connection to the primary school. Due to the size and occupancy, the local clubs also use sports halls in the inner city area five kilometers away. The construction of a multiple sports hall is also not planned due to the tight financial situation of the city of Ibbenbüren.

There are two day care centers and a large retirement home in the village. One of the day care centers is integrated directly into the family center. An annex was added to this in January 2014 in order to be able to take care of children under three.
