Paul Dickov (born November 11, 1972 in Livingston ) is a former Scottish football player and coach.
Career
Dickov began his career with the youth team of Arsenal FC , where he was brought into the first team in 1992. Due to the fierce competition, the young striker rarely came to use and was loaned to Luton Town in December 1993 . After 15 games for Luton, the offensive all-rounder went on loan to Brighton & Hove Albion for 8 games . He was then brought back to Arsenal, but was also rarely used in the following years.
In 1996 it was bought by Manchester City for a transfer fee of € 1.5 million . With the Citizens he was a regular player and called up for the first time in the Scottish national team. He played for City for a total of 6 years and was an important pillar of the club during a difficult time. Dickov was particularly popular with City fans; his equalizer against his former Arsenal teammate and best man Vince Bartram in the dramatic promotion play-off in 1999 against Gillingham FC is legendary among fans. The goal brought the turning point in the game and Manchester City achieved promotion to the second division with the win, after the club had to relegate to the third division for the first time in 1998. When Kevin Keegan was the new coach at City, Dickov lost his regular seat at the club and moved to Leicester City in 2002 . From 2004 to 2006 the Scot played for the Blackburn Rovers . He should then move to one of his former clubs (not for the last time). In 2006 it went back to Manchester City, where he was rarely used, and as a result was loaned to Crystal Palace in 2007 and Blackpool FC in 2008 . Since the beginning of the 2008/2009 season, the small but lively striker has been playing for another former club, Leicester City.
During that time at Leicester City, he was loaned to Derby County in 2009. On March 3, 2010, he moved to Leeds United after being sacked by Leicester City in early February.
Dickov joined Oldham Athletic as player-coach on June 9th .
Dickov played ten times in the Scottish national football team and was celebrated as a goalscorer once.
