The architectural office Dico si Tiganas (in self-chosen spelling also DICO si TIGANAS ; Romanian DICO și ȚIGĂNAȘ) was founded in Cluj-Napoca / Klausenburg in March 1997 and is now a well-known practice in Romania. The studio is run by its two founders, engineer Florin Dico and architect Serban Tiganas (currently also President of the Order of Romanian Architects). The office deals with the planning of the architecture, structure and building technology of residential buildings, office and administration buildings, stadiums, sports halls and industrial plants.

history

In the beginning, Dico si Tiganas worked and planned for small private entrepreneurs. The architectural firm's big breakthrough came in 2000 with the first order for the British contractor Mivan-Kier. This contract brought about a significant development for the office. The project task was to design social housing complexes for 30 locations in 27 Romanian cities, with a total area of 180,300 m². Further collaboration led to new and larger projects such as For example: Liberty Center Mall Bucharest, New Town residential complex with 630 apartments Bucharest and shopping centers in 7 major cities in Romania. At the beginning of 2009, the building contractor went bankrupt. At that time only the following projects were carried out: Liberty Center, NewTown residential complex and one of the shopping centers, Tiago Mall Oradea. Other important projects include the Bosch Rexroth factory, office building for the Bergen beer brewery in Blaj, the Olimpia Business Center and various residential complexes in Cluj-Napoca. The latest and best known projects are the expansion of the CFR1907 football stadium ( Dr. Constantin Rădulescu Stadium ), the development of the new Cluj Arena (~ 30,000 seats) and the new sports hall (~ 7,000 seats) in Cluj-Napoca / Klausenburg.
