Dictyonota fuliginosa is a bug from the family of net bugs (Tingidae).

features

The bugs are 3.9 to 5.0 millimeters long. The species of the genus Dictyonota , like Kalama tricornis, have two rows of cells in the network on the lateral edge of the hemielytres and antennae of equal thickness, the third segment being the same or thicker than the fourth. In Dictyonota fuliginosa , the antennae are predominantly brown in color.

distribution and habitat

The species is mainly distributed in Western Europe. It occurs from the British Isles and the south of Scandinavia through western and central Europe to Spain and in the east to the Czech Republic. In Germany, it is more common in the northern half, up to about the Main Line and in the southwest; it is rare in the southeast and is absent in some places. It is absent in Austria and the rest of the Alps. It was introduced into North America by humans. In Great Britain it is distributed locally in the south and east of England.

Way of life

The animals live on various legumes (Fabaceae), in Germany mainly on larger bushes of broom broom ( Cytisus scoparius ). The eggs overwinter. From them the nymphs hatch in April and May, which molt into the adult animals of the new generation by June or July. The females pierce their eggs in July and August on the young shoots of their food plants. The adults can then be found in the litter under the plants for some time .
