The species of the genus Dictyonota , like Kalama tricornis, have two rows of cells in the network on the lateral edge of the hemielytres and antennae of equal thickness, the third segment being the same or thicker than the fourth. In Dictyonota strichnocera the antennae are completely black and do not have long hairs.

distribution and habitat

The species is widespread in Europe and is also found in the northern Mediterranean. However, it is absent in North Africa. In the east the distribution area extends over the European part of Russia and the Ukraine to Central Asia. In Germany the species is widespread and not rare, in Austria it is absent in the core area of the Alps. It is widespread in the UK.

Way of life

The animals live in Western Europe on gorse ( Ulex ), in Germany mainly on broom ( Cytisus scoparius ) and only in the east, since broom is rare there, also on dyer's broom ( Genista tinctoria ). The development is similar to that of Dictyonota fuliginosa , it is partially postponed a little into autumn. The adults still appear in September and October, where they can be found mainly in the litter . In western Europe, adults can also hibernate, but it is unclear whether they can reproduce again after winter. The species can occur together with Dictyonota fuliginosa on the same food plants.
