DieMonsterDie is an American horror punk band from Salt Lake City that was founded in 1995 under the name Casa Diablo. In 2000 it was renamed DieMonsterDie (German: StirbMonsterStirb ). The band name refers to the horror film Die, Monster, Die! from 1965 (German title: The horror at Witley Castle ) with Boris Karloff in the lead role. The group describes their music as "Graveyard Shock 'n' Roll".
history
In 1995 Casa Diablo was launched, inspired by the early punk and shock rock of the 1970s, especially by artists such as Alice Cooper , GG Allin and the Misfits . Two albums were released under this name before the band Casa Diablo was declared ended in 2000 and then re-founded under DieMonsterDie. Musically rooted in punk rock, thematically exclusively with horror themes, the group belonged to the first bands of the second wave of horror punk in the USA from the mid-1990s and thus contributed to the spread of the term they themselves used from 2000.
In 2003 the band called Dr. Cyclops Records started their own label, on which not only their own but also the albums of other genre bands were released. Increasing popularity led to the band sharing the stage with popular groups such as Lizzy Borden , Calabrese , the Misfits, GWAR , Celtic Frost and Type O Negative . In 2013 DieMonsterDie released their eighth studio album.
