The Adventures of the Black Hand"
The adventures of the "black hand" is the title of a classic children's book by Hans Jürgen Press .
The four friends and master detectives Felix (with trumpet), Adele, Rollo (always with a striped sweater) and Kiki m call themselves “black hand”. E. (in my opinion means "with squirrels"). In the house at Kanalstrasse number 49, directly under the dovecote, in the “airport”, the “black hand” met regularly after school.
history
The adventures of the "black hand" appeared for the first time (with the collaboration of Fritz Raab ) in sequels in Sternchen , the children's supplement to the illustrated star , from No. 10 on March 5, 1960, with a chapter being printed every 14 days. Each chapter consists of two parts: a narrative text, at the end of which is a question for the reader, and a black and white hidden object drawn by Press , in which a detail is hidden that leads to the answer to the question. The readers were invited in the form of a competition to use this picture to solve the riddle in the text, and only found out in the sequel whether they had guessed correctly.
In 1965 all the stories were published as a Ravensburger paperback (volume 60), with one chapter spread over a double page - on the left the text, on the right the one or more pictures. There are 4 stories:
- The mysterious house (11 chapters)
- The treasure in the Bibersee (11 chapters)
- The Smuggler's Tunnel (Chapter 18)
- The robbery in the zoo (20 chapters)
This book version has been reprinted again and again since it was first published and is still available today. In 1986, for the 25th birthday, an anniversary edition was published in a larger hardcover format with revised text and two changes to the drawings. In 2008 the Ravensburger Verlag published a hardcover special edition in paperback format.
From May 13, 1974, the adventures of the "black hand" were broadcast on the ARD television series Plumpaquatsch . The text was read and a sequence of individual images was shown which represented the course of the story.
