Dudelzwerge is a German folk band that was founded in 2000 and exists to this day. She mainly performs in medieval markets and plays medieval music with elements of rock .
Band history
The Dudelzwerge were founded in 2000 by several minstrels. Over the years, the band's line-up changed many times. Mr. U. is the only founding member who is still part of the band today.
Music and style
According to their own statements, the dumbbells play "powerful, historically oriented music, [...] from traditional market music to modern sounds with borrowings from folklore and rock'n'roll, [...] which is sure to hit the people's heart" . They mainly use medieval instruments such as bagpipes and shawms, combined with modern sounds from an acoustic guitar and mixer.
Texts
A large part of the songs of the Dudelzwerge are purely instrumental, i. H. without text. However, they also play self-composed ballads, arias or historical pieces such as the well-known " Herr Mannelig ". In addition, their repertoire includes well-known folk songs that have been reinterpreted either lyrically or instrumentally, for example " Die Moorsoldaten ", which was featured on the album "Vorwärts ... and not forgotten!" as "Herr Yanlau Beadru-Erzclau" can be heard, as well as "Flickering Fire", which appears with new lyrics as "Moloch" on the same album.
Performances and concerts
The dumbbells often appear on "open markets", banquets, private celebrations or festivals or medieval markets lasting several days. In doing so, they often have fun with the audience and animate it in an ironic way.

Current occupation
Beatus von Schlag
Beatus von Schlag is the band's drummer and has been a member since May 2005. He plays both the Dudelzwerge and Davul drums . The other dumplings tell of him that he is "always friendly, almost always in a good mood" and that he is "about four out of five times late".
Yanishar
Yanishar has been a member of the Doodle Dwarfs since January 2008. He holds the "position of Kapellmeister with musical direction and electrical soldering". He plays bagpipe , shawm , nyckelharpa and the "mysterious boxes" listed by the band
Emilia Noir
Since October 2010 Emilia has been a permanent member of the Dudelzwerge, where she took Claudius' place. As the only woman in the band, she plays all kinds of stringed instruments and sings the arias of the dumbbells.
Drusus dwarf flute
Drusus has been playing in the band since December 2003, in support of Mr. U. and Yanishars, bagpipes, shawms and various flutes. The other band members mention that "he tries his hand at playing the electric guitar and drums when there is no other time for him."
Mr. U. the Grimm Dwarf
Mr. U. is the last founding member still represented in the band today. He takes care of the organization, "paperwork" and the construction and expansion of the website and is the leader of the band. He got his nickname from his "evil eye", described in this way by the other "dwarfs". He also plays the bagpipe, shawm and various flutes.
