The electrification of the Soviet Union

Electrification of the Soviet Union (original title english The Electrification of the Soviet Union ) is an opera in two acts of the British composer Nigel Osborne with a length of about 120 minutes. The libretto was written in 1986 by the British author Craig Raine based on models such as “Spektorskij” by Boris Pasternak and those of other authors. Friedrich Spangemacher wrote the German translation of the text .

The world premiere took place in 1987 in Glyndebourne . In 1988 the German premiere , performed by the Wuppertaler Bühnen , took place in the Wuppertal Opera House .
