Nigel Osborne
Nigel Osborne MBE (born June 23, 1948 in Manchester ) is an English composer .
Life
Osborne studied composition at the University of Edinburgh , among others . His lecturers were Kenneth Leighton , Egon Wellesz and Witold Rudziński .
Nigel Osborne's works have been or are played by numerous internationally renowned ensembles and orchestras , such as the Berlin Symphony Orchestra , the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra .
He has won a number of awards such as the Opera Prize from Radio Suisse Romande and the City of Geneva or the Koussevitzky Award from the Library of Congress in Washington, DC . Osborne also advocates the use of music therapy for the rehabilitation of trauma patients , especially children in war and crisis regions .
He was Reid Professor of Music at the University of Edinburgh until 2012 , but also teaches at other universities such as the University of Music and Theater in Hanover .

- "The Electrification of the Soviet Union" ( German: The Electrification of the Soviet Union ), opera in two acts, 1987
- “Terrible Mouth”, opera in one act, 1992
He is also the composer of numerous pieces of music for solo instruments , chamber ensembles , orchestras and vocals .
