Witold Rudziński

Witold Rudziński (born March 14, 1913 in Sebesch ; † February 29, 2004 in Warsaw ) was a Polish composer.

Rudziński studied composition with Tadeusz Szeligowski and piano with Stanisław Szpinalski at the Vilnius Conservatory, and at the same time Slavic philology at the university. He was then a student of Nadia Boulanger and Charles Koechlin in Paris . From 1939 to 1942 he led a music theory class at the Vilnius Conservatory .

From 1945 to 1947 he was a professor at the Łódź Conservatory , music editor of the Czytenik Publishing Society (1945–52) and director of the music department of the Ministry of Culture. Until 1957 he was artistic director of the Philharmonic and the Warsaw Opera , and from 1950 to 1957 he was editor-in-chief of Musica magazine . He then taught at the Warsaw Music Academy .

Rudziński composed a. a. seven operas, two symphonies and a symphonic suite, two overtures and symphonic pictures , three piano concertos, chamber music works, four oratorios, songs and dance music. He also wrote several music pedagogical and musicological writings.
