The earth from above (French original title La Terre vue du ciel ) is a French documentary by Renaud Delourme , which depicts our planet earth by means of wonderful, but sometimes alarming aerial images. The film was produced on the basis of photographs that the French photographer and environmentalist Yann Arthus-Bertrand had already taken for the series of books of the same name, The Earth from Above - Day by Day .

In the context of various stories that a man tells a child before they go to sleep, the contradictions between natural occurrences and human activity are shown. It emphasizes the extent to which people impair the balance of nature, so that more and more deserts are created, through rapidly growing cities, intensive cultivation through agriculture and animal husbandry, environmental pollution, deforestation, etc.
