Education

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The education , "Monthly for the connection between culture and education in science and life" was a specialist journal of educational science . It was shaped by humanities and reform pedagogy .

From 1925 to 1937 the editors were Eduard Spranger , Wilhelm Flitner , Theodor Litt , Herman Nohl and Aloys Fischer . After Flitner, Litt, Nohl and Fischer left, Eduard Spranger and Hans Wenke took over the publishing house. In the first years there was a well-known controversy between Eberhard Grisebach and Georg Reichwein about the possible foundation of pedagogy through ethics and the limits of pedagogy.

History of publication

The magazine was published by Quelle & Meyer in Leipzig from 1925 . The publication was discontinued in 1943. Spranger and the publisher refused to merge with the magazines "National Socialist Education" and "Weltanschauung und Schule" in 1943. As a result, "Education" was stopped, officially for reasons necessary for the war. After 1945 it was continued by Die Sammlung , which in turn was followed by the Neue Sammlung magazine .
