action

Subject

The servant Jindrich dreams of being a knight and marrying a beautiful princess. His way leads him to a lake, where he finds the beautiful miller's daughter Elischka, but not a princess. But in Elischka the little devil and Aquarius are already in love, so they want to prevent Jindrich and Elischka from getting together by all means.

introduction

A witch lives in a forest near a lake. She is in love with the little devil. But this only annoys her with his pranks. There is a mill by the lake in which the beautiful miller's daughter lives with the miller. A water spirit also lives in See itself. Both the water spirit and the little devil are both secretly in love with the beautiful miller's daughter Elischka.

Bulk

Jindrich lives in a village where he works as a farmhand. He dreams of being a knight and marrying a beautiful princess. So one day he sets out to find it. His path leads him through the forest near the lake. There he meets the witch who shows him the way to the mill. She said he would find his princess there.

At the mill, Jindrich finds beautiful Elischka, but she is not a princess. But since she tells him the story of the enchanted princess who walks on the lake when the moon is full, Jindrich works with the miller until the full moon. But the little devil and the water spirit are jealous of Jindrich and try everything to prevent Jindrich and Elischka from getting together.

Since the miller is old, his daughter has to marry soon so that the mill can continue to run. So he finally gives her an ultimatum. If she has not chosen a man by the full moon, the first to receive her hand will get her to be a woman. Since the little devil and the water spirit heard this, they asked for her hand shortly afterwards. In addition, a vain count comes by who would rather marry beautiful Elischka than an ugly princess. The miller is sorry for his oath, but feels bound by it. Since the moon is not yet full, Elischka still has time to make a decision.

Jindrich does not propose to marry, although Elischka and Jindrich get closer and closer over the next few days. Elischka now places further conditions on its applicants. She would like to get a present first. The count gives her a precious dress, the little devil gives her expensive jewelry, and Aquarius gives her the ability to walk on water. Jindrich is unaffected by this courtship. He's still looking for his princess. However, he brings Elishka a gingerbread heart after a trip to the next village.

The last task of Elishka is now that her future groom should sing her a song at the lake when the moon is full. But none of the three applicants can sing really well. The little devil tries magic, while the Aquarius gets the lake dwellers for musical support. The count, however, has a very sinister plan. Because Jindrich can sing so well, he wants to sing playback to Jindrich's singing. When he discusses this plan with Jindrich, the latter explains that he also wants to sing for Elischka. Count Jindrich then has Jindrich tied up in the forest and leaves him alone.

Enough

At the full moon concert at the lake, all three applicants sing about themselves. But Jindrich was able to free himself and can now sing for Elischka. He does not sing about himself, but about Elischka. Then a figure appears in the full moonlight on the lake, dressed in a beautiful dress, hung with precious jewelry, and walks across the water - a princess. It is Elischka, with all the presents of her admirers. She chooses Jindrich as her future husband because he did not put himself in the foreground and gave her the most beautiful thing - his heart.

analysis

construction

The film builds on the tradition of Czech fairy tale films and combines it with a modern film counting method. A child-friendly characterization of the figures is supported by optical computer effects. The story uses elements from classic fairy tales and combines them with elements from fantasy stories.

people

As in classic fairy tales, the good guys who eventually find each other are predetermined from the start. Jindrich and Elischka are beautiful and honest people. But Jindrich first has to realize that what he has been looking for for so long does not lie in something apparently better than a princess, but that he has long since found his happiness.

The story of the secondary characters differs from the classic fairy tale. The count is not the noble prince who leads beauty into a better future, but a self-loving person who only thinks about his well-being. The apparent villains, the little devil and the forest spirit, are ultimately only looking for their happiness, which they finally find.
