The Gates of Heaven ( Les écluses du ciel ) is a Franco-Belgian comic series published between 1981 and 1994 .

Gwen grows up as an ordinary farm boy and gradually learns that he is the rightful heir to the throne of Brittany . He has to flee from the usurper's captors to Britain and tries to recapture his kingdom.

Rodolphe wrote the Middle Ages series enriched with mythology and legends. The draftsman of the first three episodes was Michel Rouge . François Allot took over the drawings for the remaining four stories. The series appeared in Circus between 1981 and 1988 . The albums and the complete edition were published by Glénat . Feest published the first five episodes in German-speaking countries.
