The Diebelbach rises in the western forests . Its sources are west of Straßberg . North of Augsburg-Bannacker it reaches the Wertach level. It then runs further south of Bergheim along Diebelbachstrasse in the direction of Göggingen , where it finally flows into the Wertach at the Gögginger Bridge .

For most of the year, the Diebelbach seems to be a harmless channel. However, the water level changes drastically when there is heavy rainfall. This often led to floods. In order to be able to better control the floods, flood areas are to be designated along the Diebelbach in the city of Augsburg.
