Diedrich von der Brüggen

Diedrich Johann Ernst von der Brüggen (born November 14, 1771 in Karolen, Werro district ; October 23, 1836 ibid.) Was the lord of Karolen, Bebsberg and Koiküll. He was a Courland judge , district administrator and member of parliament . In recognition of his achievements, he was awarded the Russian Order of St. Anne in 1831 and the Order of St. Vladimir in 1823 .

Origin and family

Diedrich Johann came from the noble family from Brueggen , which at the beginning of the 16th century in Kurland had settled. There it acquired a large number of estates and farms and developed into an influential family in the Duchy of Courland and Zemgale and the later Governorate of Courland . His father was the major in Russian service , Heinrich Ernst von der Brüggen (1733–1796), Herr auf Karolen, Bebsberg and Koiküll, who was married to Elisabeth Baroness von Mengden . Diedrich was married to Johanna Maria von Gersdorff , their descendants were:
