Diego Domínguez (born April 25, 1966 in Córdoba , Argentina ) is a former rugby union player in the position of connector who played for both Argentina and Italy .

1986 Domínguez was appointed for the first time in the squad of Argentina, but he came due to the overpowering Hugo Portas hardly any opportunities. The first game for the "Pumas" against Chile followed in 1989 . In 1990 he moved to Italy to join the Milan rugby club. Due to the origins of his grandmother, he was soon able to play for Italy. In March 1991 he made his debut for the "Azzurri" against France . He took part in three world championships in 1991 , 1995 and 1999 .

In 1997 Domínguez moved to Stade Français in the first French league Top 14 . He achieved the championship title with the team in 1998, 2000, 2003 and 2004 and was in the final of the Heineken Cup in 2000 . In this final he scored 30 points, which were not enough to leave the field as the winner against the Leicester Tigers . In the same year he announced his resignation, but took it back due to pressure from the Italian federation and played for the national team until 2003. He played his last international match against Ireland on February 22nd of that year .

With 1010 points in 76 international matches, he is the player with the third most points of all time. He is only surpassed by Jonny Wilkinson and Neil Jenkins . His 983 points for Italy are a national record.
