Karl Platen
Karl Platen , also Carl Platen (born March 6, 1877 in Halle an der Saale , † July 4, 1952 in Weimar ) was a German actor .
Life
Karl Platen made his first appearance in 1896 at the Kiel Theater . Further stations in his stage career were Gera , Görlitz , Frankfurt an der Oder and Bielefeld . In 1906 he came to Berlin to attend the Royal Theater there .
He then stood on various Berlin stages for forty years, for example at the Central Theater , Metropol Theater , Theater am Schiffbauerdamm and finally until 1944 at the Theater am Nollendorfplatz .
After his film career began in 1913, he worked in mostly small roles in a large number of films in the following years. He was mostly used in the role of the compassionate servant. He had one of his best roles in 1929 in Joe May's Asphalt as a jeweler. In August 1944 Goebbels added him to the list of indispensable film actors on the God-gifted list .
In 1947 he moved to Weimar to the artist nursing home donated by Marie Seebach .
Karl Platen died on July 4, 1952 in Weimar.
