The Black Pierrot is a German silent film from 1926 by and with Harry Piel .

action

The young, adventurous Coello has only inherited debts from his father. Therefore, he is drawn to the big wide world, always looking for something new and adventure. When a rich man tries to show him his hospitality, Coello's thirst for freedom is greater and he refuses. A woman then pulls him into an election campaign in which Coello, without having intended to do so, exposes his benefactor. Ultimately, however, the jack of all trades can straighten things out. The election winner then gives Coello an annuity, after which he returns to his homeland and takes his childhood friend as his wife.

Production notes

The black Pierrot , with the subtitle Experiences of a young enthusiast who wanted to get to know the world , was filmed from March to May 1926 in the Phoebus and Trianon Atelier. The outdoor shots were taken in Switzerland . The film passed film censorship on May 21, 1926 and premiered on May 31, 1926. The eight-stroke had a length of 2726 meters.

The buildings are by Kurt Richter , the costumes were designed by Marco Montedoro.

criticism

Paimann's film lists summed up: “On the one hand, the subject is pleasantly noticeable due to its departure from the usual Harry Piel template, but would undoubtedly have gained interest due to the more compact version. The presentation is very good in all roles, the make-up and photography are satisfactory. Beautiful high mountain images deserve special mention. "
