Around one million is a German detective and adventure silent film by Harry Piel from 1917.

action

A stranger has already broken into eleven safes, but not stolen anything. Instead, he leaves behind a business card with the name "William Porter" on it every time. When there is another break, Detective Brown (some sources call him Braun) take over the case. Since he has to travel, his two assistants take over the case. Although the two hinder each other by laying feint, they eventually stumble upon the right lead. However, the perpetrator, a dismissed insurance employee, confesses on his own initiative. His motive: he wanted to show how indispensable he and his work are.

Production notes

A million was filmed in and around Berlin and on the Baltic Sea in April 1917 . The film passed the censorship in July 1917 and was premiered on November 2, 1917 in the Tauentzienpalast . It had five files and was 1,741 meters long. The performance in Austria was scheduled for March 8, 1918.
