Esther Carena
Esther Carena (born August 24, 1898 in Hanover , † January 26, 1972 in Hamburg ; born Franziska Lucia Pfeiffer ) was a German actress and costume designer .
Life
The daughter of a German and a Spaniard studied medicine for one semester and trained in an Italian acrobatic troupe. Until 1916 she lived mostly in Italy, where she appeared in sketches .
In 1916 she came to Germany and was discovered for the film by director Nils Chrisander . For years she portrayed heroines of crime novels, dramas and melodramas in German silent films , most of which were staged by Harry Piel towards the end of the First World War . She designed her own costumes. In 1924 she married the film architect Franz Schroedter and went into private life back.
