Bruno Eichgrün (born January 10, 1877 in Berlin , † June 2, 1937 in Berlin-Schöneberg ) was a German actor and director .

Life

Eichgrün made his stage debut in Berlin in 1897, briefly moved to Zurich the following year and returned to Berlin in 1899. Up until the First World War , Berlin and provincial theaters alternated, Eichgrün performed at the city theaters of Lübeck and Göttingen , among others . He was also able to work as a director at the latter venue.

In the middle of the war, he joined film, his first partners in front of the camera were his future wife Mia Cordes and the silent film star Asta Nielsen . In just a few years, Eichgrün became a sought-after character actor with supporting and a few main roles and until the end of the war he cooperated with such key filmmakers as Harry Piel , Henny Porten , Lya Mara and Esther Carena . Shortly after the end of the war, he also tried several times as a director of little-elaborate mystery thrillers and melodramas, which he wrote for the Berlin company 'Althoff & Co.' manufactured. None of these productions, in which Fritz Kampers often participated, is of film-historical importance.

As early as 1922, Bruno Eichgrün largely withdrew from the cinema, continued to play roles on Berlin theaters (from 1928 to 1931 under the direction of Max Reinhardt ) and only appeared several times in front of the camera in the early sound film years for a few batch appearances.

Eichgrün died as a result of a serious bowel disease in the Berlin-Schöneberg hospital.
