Just for a thousand dollars , sometimes also under Just for 1000 dollars , is a crime film from the German film series Harry Higgs . It was created in the winter of 1917/18 under the direction of Rudolf Meinert with Hans Mierendorff in the leading role of the detective.
action
The gem collector John Mitchell makes a strange bet with his club friend Robert Leroy: He bets $ 1,000 that he will commit a crime in the next five days without the detective Harry Higgs convicting him of it. Another club member, a certain Alfons Thauret, gets wind of the matter and seizes the opportunity to commit a crime that Mitchell could well blame: he committed a cunning theft of jewels. Of course, Higgs is not so easily fooled and clears the two cases.
