Police No. 1111 is a short, German silent crime film by Harry Piel from 1915 with Fritz Kortner in the leading role.

action

The wealthy sportsman Baron von Bode is planning to spend his upcoming vacation in the high Alps. Before he sets off on a hiking and climbing tour in the mountains, however, he takes out life insurance for a million francs. On the way with his car he succeeds in saving the life of Baroness Lucie Russ. But this drastic encounter has unforeseeable consequences for holidaymakers in the Alps. From now on strange things are happening around him: for example his insurance policy with the number 1111 is stolen. From his alpine domicile, Baron Bode orders the Berlin detective Voss to search for the police and the thief.

Voss picks up the trail and soon finds out about a suspect. In the holiday resort of Baron von Bodes, detective Voss and his assistant Lotte Alsen disguise themselves as a married couple in order to convict the suspected person as soon as possible. Things took a dramatic turn when Baron von Bode had several accidents in the mountains. But every time he survives the mysterious attacks. The two detectives are meanwhile on the wrong track, their suspect turns out to be an insurance agent who saved the baron's life several times (if only for reasons of professional interest). Rather, behind the attacks is that ominous Baroness Ruß.

Production notes

Police No. 1111 was created in August 1915 in the Messter studio at Blücherstraße No. 32. The exterior shots were shot in Berlin (Hochbahn, Grunewald, Tiergarten) as well as at the Eibsee , in the Höllentalklamm and the Rüdersdorfer limestone quarries. After the censorship test, the three-act film was banned from young people. The world premiere of Police No. 1111 took place in December 1915 in the Mozart Hall in Berlin.

This production was one of Fritz Kortner's first films , and Kurt Vespermann , who was Kortner's film partner three times in 1915, also played one of his first film roles here.
