Georg Muschner (cameraman)

Georg Muschner (born June 12, 1885 in Langenbielau , Reichenbach district , province of Silesia , † May 17, 1971 in Berlin ) was a German cameraman .

Life

After graduating from elementary school, he trained as a portrait photographer. He practiced this profession from 1901 until he came into contact with film in 1913. He started here as an operator , was drafted in 1917 and worked for the Image and Film Office until 1918 .

In 1919 he met Harry Piel in Berlin and was his permanent cameraman until 1927. Muschner's spectacular camera work, which was very agile for the time, played a major role in Piel's success.

After that, he mainly worked with the directors Carl Heinz Wolff and JA Hübler-Kahla . In the later years Paul Rischke was often at his side as a co-cameraman.
