action
At a medical conference, the venerable Professor Hausen speaks out against abortions, which he generally regards as "immoral". His student gynecologist Dr. Schäfer, the fiancé of Hausen's daughter Evelyn, sees it a little differently. On the other hand, he advocates a change in the law of the relevant paragraph, which should enable intervention in certain cases. Old Hausen then withdraws his consent to Evelyn's marriage to Schäfer. According to the old man, his views “do not guarantee the happiness of his daughter”. But, contrary to Hausen suspects, Schäfer takes his ethical professional approach to protecting unborn life seriously. One day, Dr. Schäfer called to Lucie's acquaintance, with whom he had recently refused an abortion. Another man had done this instead, without proceeding properly. Now Lucie's girlfriend is dying. Lucie also knows who the quackery was: Dr. Greber! Schäfer then confronts him with his crime and demands that he leave the country immediately. Evelyn also learned from Lucie what Greber had done and wants to confront him with her knowledge in his apartment. But the unscrupulous "medic" attacks Evelyn and then flees. The raped woman then runs to her ex-fiancé and asks for help. Dr. Schäfer promises her to perform the procedure professionally. Then Dr. Schäfer Prof. Hausen from the events. He is repentant and can now understand Schäfer's position on abortion.

reception
The reviews from then and now came to completely different judgments. Here are three examples:
“One can say without exaggeration that this film by the Fleck couple is the greatest trash that has ever been seen. (...) Neither the direction of the Flecks, which is confused and inconsistent, nor the manuscript by Jane Bess deserve any critical review. "
"The audience at the premiere didn't take it [the film] seriously either, but often laughed out of a very justified mood of protest."
“Louise [sic!] Fleck presents her drama about the timelessness of restrictive abortion legislation against the background of modern urban reality. The seriousness is preserved, however, because topics such as unwanted pregnancy, sexual violence and the consequences of improperly carried out abortions are not only dealt with in secondary characters, but are placed at the center of the cinematic narrative.
