Ernst Behmer

Ernst Behmer (born December 22, 1875 in Königsberg , † February 26, 1938 in Berlin ) was a German actor .

Life

The trained chemist initially played in amateur theaters and got his first permanent engagement as an actor in 1902 at the Berlin Luisen Theater. Further appearances followed in Aachen , Bromberg , Altenburg , Kassel and Nuremberg . From 1908 he lived in Berlin.

Here he continued his stage career and got his first film role in 1909. He mostly portrayed simple, modest people, but also eccentrics, fathers and dignitaries, often in a humorous way. In the 1930s he was one of the busiest supporting actors for older men in German talkies. Behmer died unexpectedly of a heart attack .
