action

Kurt Matsch and Hermann Pfannenschmied are two inseparable friends and strolling students, as they are in the book. They love life and are in no rush to complete their studies. One day their lifestyle is put to the test when Hermann's uncle dies. He was extremely rich and bequeathed his nephew 1.2 million marks - but on one condition. Hermann has to prove that he, the eternal student, manages to earn 5000 marks with his own hands. As a true friend, Kurt helps Hermann as best he can. From then on, both of them literally rush into their work and work successively as restaurateurs, music teachers, waiters and on the racing course. However, none of this brings them the 5,000 marks they need. It was all in vain, and from now on Kurt and Hermann go their own way.

Years have passed, and when mud and pan smith meet again, something has become of them after all. Kurt has been promoted to director of a brewery, and Hermann, who comes to visit him, has become head of an automobile factory in the same position. Now the will can finally be opened and the money distributed ... then it turns out that, surprisingly, Hermann's bride Agnes is the real heiress.
