Hermann Rudolf Biebrach (born November 24, 1866 in Leipzig , † September 5, 1938 in Berlin ) was a German actor and director .

Life

Hermann Rudolf Biebrach, son of the furrier Gotthelf Julius Biebrach and his wife Amalie geb. Müller, completed an apprenticeship as a wood cutter (xylograph) at the art academy after secondary school. After taking acting lessons, he was hired by the New Theater in Gießen in 1890/91 .

Biebrach then appeared on stage at numerous German theaters. From 1905 to 1910 he was at the Chemnitz City Theater , where he was promoted to senior director. He also received many film roles and became a film director during the First World War. As a director of film dramas and comedies, he was a major contributor to Henny Porten's early success . Later he worked mainly with Lotte Neumann .

Most recently, Biebrach returned to his original role as an actor. From October 1926 he headed the Ufa Acting School and took on numerous supporting roles in feature films.

Rudolf Biebrach was married to Elisabeth Letzer from 1895 (son Rudolf, * 1899) and from 1919 to the Leipzig mayor's daughter Gertrud Wiesel (daughter Erika Margot, * 1914).

It rests in the Wilmersdorf cemetery in Berlin.
