The teacher Luise Taden was actually warned when she was preparing to marry her fiancé, the manufacturer Wilhelm Rohrbach. He was recently sentenced to three days in prison after beating one of his workers. On the wedding day of the two, it finally comes to a catastrophe: When Luise is approached by a strange man in front of a jewelry store, Rohrbach's brutal nature breaks his ground - he beats the strange man to death. For this attack, a court sentenced him to three years in prison for manslaughter.

Despite the signs of strong estrangement from her new husband, Luise Rohrbach stands up for him and, in cooperation with his lawyer Rüting, can obtain a reduction in the sentence to ten months when the case is reopened. Luise's aversion to Wilhelm, however, is strong and increases beyond limits when he visits her in her apartment after his release. Here he tries to take her by force after she refused.

Rohrbach seeks revenge and tries to take away their child. Soon Luise Rohrbach saw only one way to get rid of her unloved husband: She claimed that the child was not his but the result of an affair. As a result, she becomes an adulteress and therefore sentenced in court. After serving a short sentence of three days and the completed divorce from Rohrbach, she becomes the wife of lawyer Rüting.

Luise Rohrbach's marriage took place in December 1916 and January 1917 in the Messter Film Atelier at Blücherstraße 32. The four-act film was shown for the first time on February 2, 1917 in the Mozart Hall in Berlin.
