Frida Richard

Frida Richard , born in Friederike Raithel , (born November 1, 1873 in Vienna , † September 12, 1946 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian actress .

life and career

The daughter of a carpenter attended a theater school in Vienna. Her fellow students included Max Reinhardt and Fritz Richard , whom she married in 1898. At first she did not practice her profession, but became an English teacher. Only after she moved to Berlin with her husband in 1905 did she appear on the stages there from 1908.

In addition to Berlin, she also played in Vienna at theaters subordinate to Max Reinhardt and at the Salzburg Festival . From 1910 she was often seen in films, initially often alongside Henny Porten . Frida Richard usually embodied worried mothers or servants and counselors. In roles like this she eventually became one of the busiest supporting actresses of the silent movie era.

In 1932 she went to Salzburg with her husband, where Fritz Richard died a year later. Even after that, Frida Richard was often in front of the camera.
