The Diamond Foundation is a German detective film from 1917 in the Stuart Webbs film series .
action
The young Countess Wittkowska asks Stuart Webbs to come to her. She asks him to accompany her on the way to a jeweler because she wants to leave her jewelry there. Shortly after they both left the jeweler, the latter was murdered. Since Webbs and the noble lady were the last to see him alive, the master detective is suspected of murdering the man.
Webbs is arrested by the police, but is soon able to escape and starts looking for the murderer. With his sharp talent for combination he soon gets on the trail of the real perpetrator and can finally arrest him. The diamonds, which were also stolen, can be returned to the Countess.

The Diamond Foundation is the 19th film in this series and was shot in the Stuart Webbs Film Atelier in Berlin-Weißensee . After passing the censorship in December 1917, it was banned from young people and premiered in the marble house that same month . In Austria-Hungary (Vienna) the Diamond Foundation started on January 11, 1918. The film had four acts and was 1,321 meters long, which corresponds to a playing time of a good hour.
Manfred Noa designed the film structures . The Diamond Foundation was the first film for both director Johannes Guter and his then wife Marija Leiko .
