The department store IP Hall has a big problem: A total of 50 fake 1000-mark banknotes were found in their cash registers. The cashier Edith Heber is suspected of having something to do with the flowers. A call for help overtakes detective Stuart Webbs, who is supposed to solve this mysterious case.

Webb's research reveals that the American Brook and his gang are behind this sea of ​​flowers. Brook kidnapped a banknote specialist and forced him in his dungeon to manufacture the fake 1000-mark notes. Webbs can free the flower counterfeiter against his will and arrest Brook and his gang.

The Call for Help is the 11th film in this series and was shot in June 1916 in the Stuart Webbs Film Atelier in Berlin-Weißensee . After passing the censorship in July 1916, it was banned from young people and premiered in September 1916 in the marble house. In Austria-Hungary (Vienna) the call for help started on October 20, 1916. The film had four acts and was 1529 meters long in Germany and 1780 meters in Austria-Hungary, which corresponds to a playing time of about 75 and 87 minutes respectively.

The film was also subtitled The Banknote Forgers .
