action

The wife of the well-known virtuoso Paolo Sarto, Signe Sarto, asks the gentleman detective Stuart Webbs for his help. Her husband has been suffering from severe anxiety since a strange visit. A little later the body of the mysterious visitor is found in Sarto's garden - he was slain. Once again, Webbs takes the investigation under heavy masking. He succeeds in clarifying the dead person's identity and also identifying the two real criminals.

Production notes

The Devil's Waltz passed film censorship in July 1918 and was premiered on September 26, 1918 at UT Kurfürstendamm. The four-act or, in another version, five-act film was 1514 and 1580 meters long. In Austria the film was announced for September 6, 1918 with a length of 1650 meters.
