Reviews

The trade press was enthusiastic and saw in the work a “without exaggeration a new, infinitely more perfect phase in the field of detective films.” May's colleague Arzen von Cserépy praised May's “directing talent and means, the harmony between To create action, representation and milieu ”.

“This colleague of Sherlock Holmes has the task of finding the kidnappers of a young lady, and one experiences the phases of his difficult enterprise from beginning to end, that is to say from the only existing find, a hair, to the bondage of the perpetrator. The main role is played by the author of the film, Ernst Reicher, the son of Emanuel Reicher, spirited and with that natural superiority without which, after reading countless detective novels, one can no longer imagine a detective.
