Sigrid Komtess Lunden is supposed to marry Count Eric Thoralt. When she sees the gentleman detective Stuart Webbs, who is also present, she immediately faints because she thinks she sees in him her deceased, former lover. On the wedding day, the young woman is kidnapped and a precious necklace stolen. Webbs picks up the trail, exposes the villain behind the proceedings and finds the young countess with her stolen jewelry.
Production notes
The enigmatic look was shot in the early winter of 1917/18 and passed film censorship in February 1918. Allegedly the premiere took place in January 1918. The four-act film was 1,361 meters long and was banned from young people. In Austria the film was announced for August 16, 1918. This film is the 20th Stuart Webbs adventure.
The buildings were designed by Manfred Noa .
