The Farmer from Texas is a German feature film from 1925 based on the play "Kolportage" by Georg Kaiser .

action

The wealthy farmer's daughter Mabel, who was married to a count for her money, divorced him and went back to the USA with their son Erik, known as the “Farmer from Texas”.

Meanwhile, the old count is raising a boy who he thinks is his ancestor. He originally had his son kidnapped before the divorce, but the farmer's uncle had previously had the child exchanged for the son of the widow Appelbloom.

Mother and son travel to Stjernenhoe Castle for his 24th birthday to take on his inheritance. You shock everyone with the truth. The "wrong" count is so desperate about this revelation that he wants to put an end to his life by jumping into the sea. However, he is rescued by Erik, who then generously declares his renunciation of the inheritance.
