Hans Ferdinand Junkermann (born February 24, 1872 in Stuttgart , † June 12, 1943 in Berlin ) was a German actor .

Life

The son of the court actor August Junkermann and his wife, the actress Rosa Le Seur , graduated from high school and joined his father's touring theater after a discontinued degree at a military pedagogy in Berlin. This was followed by a theater tour through the USA and his debut in the play Onkel Bräsig by Fritz Reuter on October 31, 1893 at the Zentral-Theater Berlin, where his father had taken over the direction. Junkermann's other stations as a theater actor were the Thalia Theater in Hamburg, the Weimar Theater , the Court Theater in Wiesbaden and, from 1896, the Thalia Theater in Berlin. From 1902 to 1915 he was part of the Trianon Theater ensemble .

In 1911 he made his debut as a silent film actor. Because of tempting further film offers, he terminated his theater contract in 1915 and limited himself to guest appearances on Berlin theaters in the following years. The lanky-looking junk man, whose trademark was his mustache, developed into a busy supporting actor in German films. In 1930 he starred in Hollywood three times in German versions of American productions. Back in Germany, he took over the management of the Steglitz theater from 1931 to 1934 , and in 1933 he co-founded the film and stage club Kameradschaft der Deutschen Künstler . In 1940 he was made a state actor .

Until recently, Hans Junkermann was on stage in Berlin theaters, for example in the Theater am Schiffbauerdamm . He died in Berlin in 1943 at the age of 71. His grave in the Heerstrasse cemetery in Berlin-Westend has not been preserved.

Junkermann was married to the actress Julia Serda since 1911 and was the stepfather of Charlotte Serda . His brother Fritz (1883–1942) was also an actor.
