Lyda Ssanin is a 1922 German film adaptation of a Russian novel. His wife Lya Mara plays the title role under the direction of Friedrich Zelnik . It is framed by the later famous colleagues Hans Albers and Rudolf Forster .

Lyda Ssanin is a sought-after, fun-loving and life-hungry young woman. She turns the heads of all men. While most just want to play with her and own her, Lyda is genuinely loved by the shy young doctor Novikov. Lyda, however, is hoping for more from life and follows the advances of the lady hunter Sarudin, a wealthy captain who does not let anything go wrong. He promptly seduces her and makes Lyda a child.
When Sarudin learns that Lyda is pregnant by him, he shamefully abandons her. Lyda feels dishonored and then wants to take her own life, but is stopped at the last moment by her brother Vladimir. To restore his sister's honor, Vladimir takes a step public and exposes Sarudin coram publico . So sunk in disgrace and shame, the class-conscious Rittmeister has nothing left but to shoot himself. Lyda, however, finds her late love happiness in the faithful Novikov.
Production notes
Lyda Ssanin passed film censorship on November 16, 1922, received a youth ban and premiered the following year. The Austrian premiere took place on March 30, 1923. In Germany, Lyda Ssanin could be seen for the first time on May 10, 1923 in Berlin's marble house. The film was 2124 meters long, divided into five acts.
