The Chery A5 is a car model from the Chinese automobile manufacturer Chery Automobile . It is a four-door notchback sedan in the compact class .

The vehicle is offered with four different engines (1.5 l with 80 kW, 1.6 l with 88 kW, 1.8 l with 97 kW and 2 l with 102 kW). The 2-liter version is equipped with an automatic transmission , the other with a five-speed manual transmission.

For safety, there are ABS and EBD as standard, as well as two (four for a surcharge) airbags. In a crash test carried out by C-NCAP in the 2006 model year , the vehicle received a rating of three stars and an overall score of 37.6.

Hybrid vehicle

The Chery A5 ISG is the first Chinese hybrid vehicle.

For the 2008 Olympic Games Chery delivered a total of 50 hybrid vehicles based on the A5. The vehicles should emit around 12% less CO 2 .

License production

A license model of the Chery A5 is the Russian Vortex Estina , which has been produced for the Russian and Icelandic markets by the Taganrog automobile plant in Izhevsk since 2008 . Furthermore, the A5 was also manufactured in Egypt - there called Speranza A516 - and by two Ukrainian plants as Chery Elara and Chery A5. In Iran it is produced as the MVM 530 .
