The first generation of the vehicle (internal designation: B11) was introduced in 2003 and had a two-liter gasoline engine with a maximum output of 102 kW (or 95 kW in conjunction with a four-speed automatic transmission), a 1.8-liter engine equipped with a maximum output of 97 kW or a 2.4-liter engine with a maximum output of 95 kW. Airbags and ABS were available as standard. At Auto Shanghai 2009, a stretch limousine based on the Eastar was shown. In 2008, three vehicles were converted to a four-door convertible as a parade vehicle for the Chinese military. The Chery V5 was offered as an Eastar on some sales markets.

The second generation of the Eastar was formally shown for the first time at Auto Shanghai in 2011 . A 1.8-liter engine with a maximum output of 97 kW and a two-liter engine with a maximum output of 102 kW are available.
