occupation

Felicitas Grolandin is a German costume - silent film from 1922 by Rudolf Biebrach with Hella Moja , who also produced the strip, in the title role.

action

This costume film material was tailored entirely to the main actress Hella Moja by producer Hella Moja. The story takes place at the Swedish royal court at the beginning of the 17th century. Felicitas Grolandin enters the service of King Gustav Adolf, disguised as a page, without her father's knowledge . When the young woman was recognized as such, she initially embarrassed the Swedish monarch. But soon she should prove to be his guardian angel: When the king is the target of an assassination attempt, Felicitas throws herself in front of him, into the hostile bullet shot at him, sacrifices herself with it and thus saves his life.

The plot is similar to Conrad Ferdinand Meyer's novella Gustav Adolfs Page (1882).

Production notes

Felicitas Grolandin was shot in Bamberg , had five acts with a length of 1,774 meters and passed the censorship on November 30, 1922. It is possible that the film was shown publicly for the first time that same year. However, it is not known exactly where and when the premiere took place. The German premiere took place on June 22, 1923 in the Primus Palast in Berlin. Before that, however, Felicitas Grolandin was in Austria on January 12, 1923 (the film was about 1,850 meters long there) and on February 19, 1923 in Sweden.

The buildings are by Gustav A. Knauer , the costumes by Ali Hubert . Moja's husband Heinz Paul took over the production management.

criticism

Paimann's film lists summed up: "The subject could not avoid the lengths that often occur in costume films ... the presentation (is) good, the presentation and photos are up to date, the overall impression is a good picture."
