Placed on the sample is a German silent movie comedy from the year 1918 by Rudolf Biebrach with PORTEN in the main role.
action
On the advice of her brother-in-law, the young and impoverished widow, Countess Marlene von Steinitz, is supposed to marry the intellectually underexposed but extremely wealthy Imperial Count Adolar von Warowingen, as this would put all her worries away in one fell swoop. She asks Count Steinitz for eight days and travels to the city to come to a decision and, by the way, to enjoy her free life once again to the fullest.
At an artist festival there she met the painter Frank Merwin, made sure that he was drugged and had the handsome young man brought to her castle. When he wakes up from a twilight, the bystanders treat him like a famous person. The masked Marlene pretends to be his bride in order to put him to the test whether he is any good as her future husband. Although Merwin passes this test very badly and he is released in the direction of his poor little room, the countess decides for him. Count Adolar receives a basket from Marlene, and Marlene and Frank celebrate their engagement in town.
