Heinrich Schroth (actor)
Heinrich August Franz Schroth (born March 21, 1871 in Pirmasens , † January 13, 1945 in Berlin ) was a German theater and film actor.
Life
Schroth made his debut in 1890 at the Princely Theater of Sigmaringen as Robert in the farce Robert and Bertram by Gustav Raeder. In 1894 he went to the Stadttheater Augsburg , in 1896 to Mainz and in 1897 to the Royal Court Theater in Hanover. From 1899 he was part of the ensemble of the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg for six years . Since 1905 he has appeared on various Berlin stages.
During the First World War, Heinrich Schroth appeared for the first time as a silent film actor. He immediately received leading roles, but had to be content with supporting roles in the twenties . Schroth took part in an immense number of productions as a small actor and also took on roles in the propaganda films of the Nazi regime . In August 1944, in the final phase of World War II , Joseph Goebbels added him to the God-gifted list of actors he needed for his propaganda films. Schroth was thus freed from a war mission, including on the home front . Schroth died five months later.
Carl Zuckmayer rated Schroth "where the ringleaders of the new Nazi theater student councils, against the exiled masters such posthumously as a Reinhardt was ravaged type of slave rebellion later".
The actor Heinz Sailer (actually Heinz Schroth, 1892–1957) comes from Schroth's first marriage . Heinrich Schroth was married to the Austrian actress Else Ruttersheim , from whom the actor Carl-Heinz Schroth emerged . The actress Hannelore Schroth comes from the third marriage with the German actress Käthe Haack .
