action

One day the girls of a boarding school known for their modesty meet the members of a regiment on a land excursion. In the general confusion, where men chase after women, Erna Rastenau of all people falls, the daughter of the strict regimental commander. The young, dashing Lieutenant von Windheim helps her, a gentleman from head to toe, back on her feet. The following evening a small festivity with food and drink is organized in honor of the colonel and regiment commander. When the colonel recommends himself after a while, the young soldiers who have stayed behind really turn it up. Windheim, an outright joker, disguises himself as Ordonnanz Kaczmarek, one of the most original apparitions in the regiment, and has the laughing comrades on his side.

At that moment the phone rings and Colonel Rastenau summons his orderly to come to him. Windheim declares that he is ready to continue this fun as Kaczmarek with the Colonel for general fun. But Windheim / Kaczmarek fulfills the Colonel's special requests so excellently that he now declares that he will not want to do without this Kaczmarek in the future. A rat that keeps him awake in his quarters ensures that Windheim worries the whole following night about how he can get out of this number again. As the Colonel's boy, he now has the task of picking up his daughter Erna, who has announced to visit her father, from the station. Once at the regiment, the colonel plans to introduce his daughter to the local officers' society.

All officers are invited to a social dinner, and everyone has a lot of fun when Kaczmarek, alias Windheim, allows himself little pranks while serving the food and drinks. When he believes he is unobserved for a moment, Windheim gives up his Kaczmarek role for a moment. He is observed from afar by Erna Rastenau, who now recognizes him as her beau, who helped her on the maneuver some time ago. But now she also wants to have fun and orders her father's boy around for all kinds of services. It is only during a ride that she reveals herself to him and they come closer to each other. When they return to the barracks, Windheim's father has just come to visit the colonel. Now the whole funny dizziness is exposed. The initially a little angry Mr. Papa is calmed down by his daughter Erna. She simply tells him that this masquerade was part of a bet. Rastenau even gives his blessing on Windheim's engagement with Erna, but he has to serve two days of room arrest for gross mischief.

Production notes

The comedy Musketeer Kaczmarek was made in the Messter-Film-Atelier in Berlin's Blücherstraße 32, was censored in October 1915 and probably had its world premiere in Vienna, where it was announced under the title Musketeer Katzmarek , at the end of the same year. It is possible that there was a performance in the German Reich in 1915. A performance for Berlin can only be proven in 1917. The original length of the three-act film was 1033 meters, when it was re-censored in August 1921, it was only 958 meters. The film was released for the youth.

criticism

“A comedy hit in the truest sense of the word, which so far has probably only found its match in the brilliant Henny Porten film swan“ Just don't get married ”, is“ Musketeer Kaczmarek ”. The charming plot, the direction, which is exquisitely worked out down to the smallest detail, the downright high-class presentation and the clean manner ... urge you to make the aforementioned comparison when discussing this latest comedy, which is inspired by pleasant humor.
