The Spengler Cup 1979 ( French Coupe Spengler 1979 ) was the 53rd edition of the competition of the same name and took place from December 26th to 30th, 1979 in the Swiss climatic health resort of Davos . The ice rink there , which was partially covered for the first time, served as the venue .

It won Krylja Sowetow Moscow , which won three of its four games, in front of the Düsseldorfer EG . After the direct comparison ended in a draw, Moscow won the tournament due to the better goal difference compared to Düsseldorf. As in previous years, the host HC Davos did not take part in the tournament and was represented on the Swiss side by the national team . The German Udo Kießling was the most successful player in the tournament with nine points , including five goals.
