The Spengler Cup 1979 ( French Coupe Spengler 1979 ) was the 53rd edition of the competition of the same name and took place from December 26th to 30th, 1979 in the Swiss climatic health resort of Davos . The ice rink there , which was partially covered for the first time, served as the venue .
It won Krylja Sowetow Moscow , which won three of its four games, in front of the Düsseldorfer EG . As in previous years, the host HC Davos did not take part in the tournament and was represented on the Swiss side by the national team . The German Udo Kießling was the most successful player in the tournament with nine points , including five goals.
