The Spengler Cup 1987 ( French Coupe Spengler 1987 ) was the 61st edition of the competition of the same name and took place from December 26th to 31st, 1987 in the Swiss climatic health resort of Davos . The ice rink there served as the venue .
It was won by Team Canada , which defeated qualifying winner Krylja Sowetow Moscow with a 4: 3 victory in the penalty shootout in the final game . The team from the Soviet Union had clearly won the preliminary round 5-2. It was the third tournament success and the successful title defense for the Canadian federation selection after the maiden win in 1984 and the win in the previous year . The Russian Sergei Charin was the most successful player in the tournament with eight scorer points , including five goals.
mode
The five participating teams initially played in a single round in the " everyone against everyone " mode , so that each team played four games. The two teams with the best points after completing the ten qualifying games finally determined the tournament winner in an additional game.
