The Spengler Cup 1997 ( French Coupe Spengler 1997 ) was the 71st edition of the competition of the same name and took place from December 26th to 31st, 1997 in the Swiss climatic health resort of Davos . The ice rink there served as the venue .

Team Canada won again , winning the tournament with an 8: 3 victory in the final over Färjestad BK . In the qualification, the Swedes had won the game 3-1. Team Canada won the title for the third time in a row and celebrated the seventh tournament success since 1984 . The Canadian Todd Elik was the most successful player in the tournament with eight points , including two goals.

mode

The five participating teams initially played in a single round in the " everyone against everyone " mode , so that each team played four games. The two teams with the best points after completing the ten qualifying games finally determined the tournament winner in an additional game.
